Over the past 18 months we have been working alongside the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries to deliver 6 Sport and Rec traineeships throughout WA.
Including host employer selection, trainee recruitment, support and mentoring and facilitation of the Cert III Sport and Rec qualification for each trainee. One of the main focuses of the project was for the trainees to go into ongoing employment at the end of their traineeship. Of the 5 placements, as they approach the end of their 12-month traineeship period, they have all either completed or are very close to completing their qualification, and have all secured ongoing employment.
Blake Little – Nyoongar Wellbeing and Sports, moving into a Sports Development Officer role
Ben McGuire – UWA Sport, moving into a Customer Service role
Allee Bartlett – Geraldton Aboriginal Sporting Corporation, moving into a Project Officer role
Andrew James – Garnduwa, to move into a Community Development Officer role
Ashleigh Woods (not pictured) – Albany Leisure and Aquatic Centre has gone onto work with Rio Tinto in a local role
Congratulations to all our trainees for your hard work throughout the program, we cannot wait to see what you achieve in your future careers.
