Family Background: I AM A NYUL-NYUL GIRL FROM BEAGLE BAY.
Career Highlights: Working with young Indigenous girls within the community and empowering them to do whatever they want to do in life.
Job Role: Deadly Sista Girlz Coordinator and Mentor
Location: Broome, WA
Describe a typical days work at the Foundation: The morning always usually starts with school pickups for the girls who need extra support getting to school. During the day being present and available to the girls at all time’s especially if they need to come and talk (which is always). Never a dull moment Assisting with getting the girls to classes is also a big part of the role and re engaging them back into school/helping increase their attendance.
Favourite part of being a mentor: Talking and listening to the girls, especially all their stories as we have a whole lot of different girls come from communities across the Kimberley region who bring so much laughter and strength to us as their mentors. And being here every day for the girls as someone they can come and talk to about issues they may be going through.
Personal inspiration: My children and grandchildren – they are my strength
Quote to live by: I always tell the girls to be the best that they can be, life will always bring us different challenges but there’s always light at the end of the tunnel.
