Andrew is a Director in the Business Advisory division of Hall Chadwick. He provides various taxation and consulting services to businesses in a wide variety of industries in both the private and listed environments. The provision of these services has always been based around providing significant personal attention to the client.
Andrew has a passion for assisting Indigenous individual to develop and grow their businesses and was responsible for the BHPBIO Indigenous Business Support Program in the Pilbara, and the Chevron Indigenous support program now called the West Pilbara Business Support Program.

Lauren is an expert in the development and implementation of social media content and digital marketing. She has more than 16 years-experience in both Perth and Sydney working at agencies with some of Australia’s most well-known brands – including WA Day, Ability Centre, Mirvac, Mrs Mac’s Pies, CBH and more. In a groundbreaking initiative funded by NIAA, the Waalitj Hub has partnered with the Australian Institute of Management Western Australia (AIM WA) to design and develop the Indigenous Joint Ventures Workshops to provide Indigenous entrepreneurs with knowledge and strategies to deliver better outcomes for themselves through commercial Joint Ventures.
This one day virtual workshop is tailored towards Indigenous Entrepreneurs who are currently in, or considering a business joint venture arrangement.
The workshop will cover:
- An introduction to JV’s
- Why enter a JV – benefits and risks?
- Types of JV arrangements
- Criteria for evaluating your JV
- Questions to ask of and about your JV partner
- Business relationships, balance of power and code of behaviour
- Black cladding issues
- Principles of good governance in JV arrangements
- Roles and responsibilities of Directors, Management and Shareholders
- Introduction to financial statements for Directors
- Negotiating the terms and conditions of your JV
Learning outcomes:
- Decide if a JV arrangement is the right option for your business
- Evaluate if there is alignment of values and expectations with your JV partner
- Begin to understand and build the foundations for a JV partnership through good governance
- Identify the threats and opportunities in a case study demonstrating an actual JV arrangement
- Know when, where and how to seek further advice and support

Your session will be led by Gemma Nugent, a specialist construction, engineering and consulting contract lawyer.
