RAES Update to Mutual Obligations

25 August 2026
Mutual obligations for job seekers in the Remote Australia Employment Service will resume on 1 September 2026.

Mutual obligations requirements are tasks and activities that job seekers agree to do while they look for a job to receive income support payments.

If job seekers do not meet their mutual obligations, they may have their payments paused.

What do you have to do if you are a jobseeker?
When taking part in the RAES, there are compulsory requirements under mutual obligations that you need to do:

  • meet with your RAES provider each month
  • make and agree to a job plan with your RAES provider
  • look for work (where appropriate)
  • accept or not leave suitable paid work
