Held in Perth for the first time, the event created a unique opportunity for businesses across Western Australia to connect with buyers, strengthen networks and explore new opportunities, without the significant travel and accommodation costs often associated with attending national events.
To help businesses make the most of this opportunity, Waalitj Hub, with support from the Department of Treasury and Finance provided a series of support packages to 16 First Nations Business clients including assistance with trade show exhibition stands, participation in the Supplier Diversity Awards Gala Dinner and marketing assistance. The support enabled businesses to increase their visibility, promote their products and services, and build valuable relationships with industry leaders, government representatives and procurement professionals from across the country.
Hub client, Jalbi Australia, said the support had a significant impact on their experience at the event.

The Waalitj Hub team attended both days of the event, taking part in the Knowledge Forum, trade show and networking activities. The trade show featured 232 Indigenous businesses from across Australia, with Western Australian businesses making up around 60 per cent of exhibitors. Many other Waalitj Hub clients were among those showcasing their businesses, highlighting the strength of the WA First Nations business sector.
Through the Waalitj Hub, First Nations business owners have access to a wide range of free services, including state-of-the-art facilities, mentoring from business coaches, industry connections, and independent professional services. Clients can receive specialised support in key business areas such as tendering, marketing, and legal. Since its establishment in 2020, the Waalitj Hub has assisted over 800 businesses in achieving their goals.
The Waalitj Hub supports Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people wanting to start, grow or sustain their businesses through a combination of in-house business coaching and access to professional support and is supported by the National Indigenous Australians Agency, as well as State Government and Corporate partners.
