Our Annual Deadly Sista Girlz Careers Exhibition

Last week, we hosted the annual Deadly Futures Careers Exhibition for our Deadly Sista Girlz students, at Mineral Resources Park. There was a swarm of activity around the exhibition, as our Year 11 and 12 Deadly Sista Girlz from across WA came to join us for the day.

Joined by over 26 vendors representing various industry and tertiary organisations such as, Mineral Resources, Western Power, ALCOA, HIF, ADF Careers, Curtin’s Centre for Aboriginal Studies, Pinsent Masons, KBI,   Chevron, Officeworks, Shell and many more!!

With a break for lunch, the students continued the second part of their day. Soon after, the students joyfully continued back to their schools, hands filled with goodie bags of gifts from each vendor!

Through the program DSG students are able to learn about the range of future pathways that can be available to them, after high school.

To enhance the student’s engagement with the vendors, we created a DSG Passport questionnaire, which included questions for the students to ask each company and university.

As part of Deadly Sista Girlz, participants are equipped with the tools they need to flourish both during and after high school. Whether they intend to enter the workforce or go on to further study, our mentors guide and support them, creating an individual pathway plan to kick-start their career.

The program works with student’s to incorporate pathways into delivery sessions, assist them with school-based traineeships, work experience opportunities, casual employment opportunities and assist with transitioning for life after school whether that be higher education, training, or employment.

Deadly Futures is an integral event, exposing our students to the numerous different opportunities available and get them thinking about the different pathways they can take during or post-school.
