12 of our Deadly Sista Girlz schools came together from all over Perth and regional WA to compete in our Annual DSG basketball Carnival.
The DSG tournament brought together 11 teams. Schools represented included Fremantle College, Yule Brook College, Governor Stirling Senior High School, Southern River College, Halls Head College, John Tonkin College, Armadale Senior High School, St Mary’s College, Northam Senior High School, North Albany Senior Highschool, Champion Bay Senior High School, and Darling Range Sports College.
Each team competed in five hard fought rounds. They played with great effort to win, while also competing respectfully and demonstrating strong sportsmanship throughout the day.
Following a lunch break, the top six teams faced off in the finals to decide their ladder positions. Even after five tough rounds, teams continued to give it their all for the finals.
On court 1 we had the grand final, Darling Range Sports College facing Champion Bay Senior Highschool. It was a tightly contested match with scores being even at halftime, but Champion Bay SHS came out on top!
Congratulations to Champion Bay SHS for taking home the cup this year and well done to all teams who attended!
Thank you to all staff who assisted, our volunteers from Tronox, KingKira, ARC Infrastructure, HIF and Seda College students who umpired games throughout the day.
Our DSG program holds engagement events, like the basketball Carnival, across the year for students to build connections across our schools.
