Delivered in partnership with Anglicare WA, the workshops gave participants the opportunity to explore songwriting, rap, beat creation and recording while building confidence, creativity and communication skills. Using music as a creative outlet, kids were encouraged to express themselves, share their experiences and connect with one another while developing new skills.
Working collaboratively, participants helped create original music by contributing lyrics, beats and recording demos. Beyond the music itself, the workshops encouraged confidence, communication, teamwork and cultural pride. By sharing stories and experiences through a creative medium, participants were able to explore their aspirations and strengths in a positive and meaningful way!
The workshops form part of our broader work across the Yaaliku region, supporting individuals, family and communities through employment and community-focused programs. This includes the Remote Australia Employment Service which focuses on community projects where participants can build skills and gain hands-on experience; Remote Jobs and Economic Development which assists jobseekers to move into paid employment through the creation of new jobs; running of the Youth Centre in Laverton, and youth engagement activities that help create positive pathways for young people and provide holistic community support.
