Meet Luke!
Luke is a proud Yiman man who recently completed his Bachelor of Business.
Luke has been a part of our Indigenous Scholarships Program and was awarded a scholarship through Shell Energy.
“Luke has been an absolute pleasure to have on board, his energy and light shines brightly everywhere he goes, he is such a deadly person to be around. His commitment and dedication to his goals is second to none and we at the Foundation have no doubt Luke is going to succeed in everything he puts his mind to” said his mentor, Taryn.
Luke is currently working as a Graduate Sustainability – Safety & Risk Advisor with Evolution Mining at Ernest Henry Operations near Cloncurry.
Luke said “The Waalitj Foundation has been a massive support throughout my final year of university. From helping out financially during studies and relieving work pressures, to opening doors into industry and connecting me with a network of industry people. It’s honestly been a game-changer. It gave me the confidence and backing to go after the roles I really wanted and helped me transition into the workforce smoothly.
It’s more than just a program. It’s a mob that backs you and wants to see you thrive. I’m really grateful to be part of it and proud to share how far it’s helped me come.”
Congratulations Luke! We are so proud of your achievements and look forward to watching your journey progress even more over the years.
The Indigenous Scholarship Program, delivered by the Waalitj Foundation in partnership with Shell’s QGC business, aims to increase First Nations Australians with tertiary and trade qualifications. The program is facilitated by local First Nations mentors who utilise their contextual and cultural understanding to provide individual mentoring for each participant.
