Since joining the Parent Pathways program, Karlie has been supported to complete her First Aid course, enrol in a Certificate IV in Accounting and Bookkeeping, and access practical tools to support her studies, including a Chromebook and financial calculator.
“I am genuinely happy that I’ve been connected with Tammy and Waalitj, and I’m so excited to see what else I can achieve for myself and bub as we continue improving our lives with their support,” said Karlie.
Parent Pathways is a voluntary program offering personalised support to parents and carers, connecting them with opportunities that align with their goals and priorities. Through one-on-one mentoring, participants can explore training, services and activities that suit their individual needs.
When Karlie joined the program, her mentor Tammy was new in her role but built a strong, supportive connection by being open, approachable and focused on getting the right outcomes.
Karlie shared that what stands out most is the ongoing care and flexibility she receives, from appointments that fit around her routine to check-ins that consider both her and her bub’s wellbeing.
Tammy reflected on their journey together, saying,
“I supported Karlie step-by-step to enrol in her Cert IV in Accounting and Bookkeeping, making sure she understood everything along the way. I helped organise the equipment she needed to get started and worked with her to fit her study around her parenting responsibilities. I gave her encouragement and practical support to help her manage both. I’ve really enjoyed working with Karlie and seeing her take these positive steps forward.”
Delivered in partnership with Training Alliance Group, the Parent Pathways program focuses on parents and carers and their individual needs. With the help of a qualified mentor, parents and carers can receive flexible support to assist with any personal, study or work goals.
