RJED assists jobseekers to move into paid employment through the creation of new jobs that support community priorities. Our RJED positions form part of our Community Maintenance Initiative which maintains and improves public spaces while providing meaningful employment and skills development.
The initiative aligns with local needs identified through community feedback and contributes to social, environmental, and economic development. Participants build skills, learn safe work practices and contribute to something that benefits the whole community.
Waalitj Foundation operates multiple support programs in the Yaaliku region, including the Remote Australia Employment Service which focuses on key projects where participants can build skills and gain hands-on experience. These projects are codesigned in response to community priorities, identified through consultation across Laverton, Leonora and Wiluna.
RJED is funded by the National Indigenous Australians Agency.
